Surface-Quality Scanning Device for Industrial Inspection of Plastic Materials

The project delivered an industrial inspection device that characterises the surface quality of plastic components using optical and computational techniques.
The system targets quality-assurance pipelines in plastics manufacturing, providing automated defect detection and surface-roughness analysis at production-line speeds. Combined optical metrology and machine-learning classification deliver consistent, operator-independent inspection.
The work extends ASIL’s optical-metrology expertise into industrial applications and complements the lab’s research-grade holographic instrumentation. The project was funded under TÜBİTAK’s 1501 Industry R&D programme in collaboration with manufacturing partners.
