Holotomographic Microscope and Micromanipulator System for Assisted Reproductive Technologies
TÜBİTAK 1501 2022 – 2023 · Co-Investigator
The project produced a holotomographic microscope coupled with an integrated micromanipulator for use in assisted reproductive technologies.
The system delivers label-free 3D imaging of living gametes and embryos, supporting clinical decision-making during ICSI, embryo selection, and morphokinetic monitoring while minimising photodamage and contrast-agent exposure. Quantitative phase imaging recovers refractive-index distributions that correlate with cellular composition, providing information not accessible through conventional bright-field microscopy.
The work translates ASIL’s holographic-microscopy and microrobotic-manipulation expertise into a clinically aligned platform for embryology laboratories. The project is funded under TÜBİTAK’s 1501 Industry R&D programme, which supports application-driven research with industrial partners.
